Member Sruthi’s Success Story: Sruthi’s Swimming Journey

We want to share Main Line Health Fitness & Wellness Center member Sruthi P.’s aquatic journey and her incredible progress during June. In late May, Sruthi came to Main Line, having never taken a swimming lesson in her life.

Sruthi told Aquatic Management that she would be on vacation in Pennsylvania for one month and wanted to try her best to learn to swim in that time. She described herself as having a fear of the water, but what was clear to everyone was that she had an incredible determination to conquer that fear.

Right away, she requested that she be able to come in for her lessons during the week. When questioned as to which day of the week would work best, Sruthi clarified that she wanted to come swim EVERY day of the week, Monday through Friday. And so, every week, Monday through Friday, throughout the month of June, Sruthi showed up at 10:30am ready to swim every morning.

In the beginning, Sruthi had no background whatsoever in the water. She patiently waited for directions and did her best to follow them. A student by nature, Sruthi executed every direction with thoughtfulness and precision.

By the end of her first lesson, Sruthi was already kicking across the pool on her back. Days went on with Sruthi blossoming as a swimmer, learning new skills and strokes daily. By this point, it was clear that with the focus she employed in the water, there would be no limit on her progress other than time. Recognizing this fact, Sruthi decided to conquer that too.

Within a week, she decided to DOUBLE her appointments, extending each practice from 30 to 60 minutes. She continued throughout the month indefatigably, and by the end demonstrated proficiency in Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle.

Sruthi’s journey to becoming a swimmer shows what will happen when you take that leap, conquer your fears, and apply yourself to something.

Regarding her experience at the club, Sruthi said, “Main Line Health Fitness and Wellness is the best center in the Philadelphia area. I took private lessons learning to swim with Christian, and not only did I tick one off my bucket list, but I enjoyed every bit of it.”

Main Line Health Aquatics Congratulates Sruthi on her success and all of the exciting times she’ll have swimming forever after.

Gina has had her work cut out for her while working with me! It will be 9 years since I have been training with Gina! I worked out with her the first week the Center opened! Gina has gotten me through some challenging health situations. Gina cares about your success, and addresses new concerns as they come. Hitting that age where keeping that muscle mass is so hard! How to complete the challenge:

Workout at the center and log 12 workouts using the Movofit™ app during the duration of the challenge and receive 500 reward points.

  • A max of one workout per day can be logged.
  • All workouts must be logged at the Center.
  • You must have the Movofit app to receive reward points.

Suzanne is a master at analyzing your unique movement habits/behaviors to help you make minor corrections that improve your ability to exercise, walk, and relax.
