I am a 65-year-old, formerly sedentary woman who was never athletic. I “failed” the Center’s initial physical assessment and am not surprised. My body fat mass was over 42 percent, visceral fat level 16, and body mass index (BMI) 28. I was tired, had heel pain, and high blood pressure. I was at risk for diabetes and other obesity-related health issues. I worried about the possibility of stroke, heart disease, hip fracture, or other disabilities in my near future. When the Center opened, I started weight training with Andrew. I love the results! My body fat is down to 36 percent, visceral fat level 12, and BMI 26.4. I lost 14 pounds of fat (a full dress size) and two inches from my waist. I haven’t reached my goal yet. However, I am steadily losing two pounds of fat each month and maintaining/gaining lean weight. My heels stopped hurting. I have more energy and sleep better. My blood pressure improved; my resting heart rate dropped from 72 to 55! Friends tell me I look great. The best outcome: I am healthier and no longer worry about the possibility of diabetes or assisted living. I decided to invest in my health, and am so glad I did.
